Once you have created a character you then can proceed to how you want to play the Game.
If you click on new a screen will appear giving you 3 options.
These are:
- Open World
- Missions
- Outposts
Open World
Open World is the main play-through players choose to play. If you leave this world via your dropship, you will lose everything you are carrying except workshop items. Your base etc wil remain in the world as long as this map does not get replaced by another world, if you decide to create a new one, as long as the map name is not the same.
Missions
When choosing the Mission mode, each time you complete a mission and leave the planet, what was created on the map, such as bases etc wil lbe deleted when you come back for the next mission. Items in your inventory that are not workshop items will also be deleted.
when you’re running missions only, the “owner” of the mission has to be the last to depart when it’s over or the “guests” will lose their workshop items if not insured…learned that the hard way
Outpost
Outpost is a small map that only has 1 Biome, and it’s a great way to relax and base build. The animals found here are related to the biome.
You are going to have to act fast and have priorities for things you need to do when you land.
You are going to need water, food, and oxygen within the first 45 minutes. Get yourself familiar with how to go about getting these. There is also some more info below.
Priorities
- Start harvesting fibre, picking up rocks craft an axe cut down trees etc and repeat to gain XP.
- Make as many bandages as you can.
- Make a knife and a weapon of your choice eg bow and some arrows.
- Make yourself a drying rack, basic water purifier and an oxidizer.
- Once you unlock tier 2 make yourself a waterskin and oxygen bladder.
- Make a bedroll at level 5 and make sure you setup a respawn point.
Oxygen
Surviving includes making sure your character has enough ongoing oxygen. You do this by picking up the blue oxites off the ground or mining the large blue oxite boulders and consuming these. When you craft an oxygen bladder, you can craft an oxidizer, place the oxite into this device, then attach the oxygen bladder, let it fill, then add that into your inventory and consume when needed.
TIP: As you progress and earn REM from completing missions, you can buy the ShenGong Liwei 02 Tank. Research cost is 200 REM, and to craft it costs 75 REM. The item can be found under Gadgets in your Workshop.
Water
Craft a Basic Water Purifier, place it in water, and consume from this device. Once you have a water skin, you can fill it by approaching the water purifier and following the prompts.
TIP: As you progress and earn REM from completing missions, you can buy the ShenGong Hulu Canteen. Research cost is 200 REM, and to craft it costs 50 REM. The item can be found under Gadgets in your Workshop.
